A mall-compliant Retail Merchandising Unit engineered to the RMU rulebook, height, footprint, lockability and finish cleared before the mall ever sees it.
Get a Custom QuoteThe Retail Merchandising Unit is the entry format of Indian mall retail, and the format most often rejected at inspection. Every mall publishes an RMU specification covering maximum height, footprint, illumination, material class and lockability, and units fabricated without that document in hand get sent back while the licence clock keeps running.
Kaizeng manufactures RMU carts against the mall's own spec sheet. We request the RMU guidelines before the first drawing is made, so the unit that arrives on the concourse is the unit that stays there.
The standard 8 ft × 4 ft island layout works all four sides: tiered display shelving on the two long faces, a lockable cash-and-wrap point on one short end, and branded fascia panels running the full perimeter above eye level. Internal storage sits below the display line behind shutter-lock panels.
Castor-mounted with levelling jacks, the unit can be repositioned within the mall's permitted zone without trade disruption.
Frame in powder-coated MS square section; body panels in HDHMR with high-pressure laminate in the brand palette; display decks in 12 mm toughened glass or laminated HDHMR to suit the merchandise weight. Lockable roller shutters or hinged acrylic covers close the unit overnight without a separate hoarding.
All edges are machine-banded and all visible fasteners concealed, the finish standard malls audit for.
A single 16A supply point feeds LED strip illumination in the fascia and display decks, wired through a mini-DB with MCB protection mounted inside the storage cavity. Wiring is concealed in the frame section, no trailing cables across the concourse.
The unit is dimensioned to the host mall's published RMU limits, with fire-retardant laminates and IS-compliant wiring as standard.
Fascia geometry, laminate palette, lighting temperature and shelf configuration are all brand-configurable. Common additions: acrylic backlit signage, a card-terminal shelf, greeting-card or impulse racks on the end panels, and a demo counter insert for tester-led categories.
For multi-mall rollouts, one approved design is locked and repeated, each subsequent cart costs less than the last.
Looking to build something for your brand?
Click here for details & pricing →An RMU is the cheapest way to test a catchment before committing to an inline store. Rent is a fraction of inline rates, fit-out is a fraction of shop-in-shop cost, and a rejected or delayed unit is the only real risk, which is exactly the risk the compliance-first build removes.
Brands typically run RMUs as a seeding format: prove the mall, then convert to an inline with the sales data in hand.

WhatsApp us →Yes, send us the mall's RMU specification document and we fabricate to it. If you don't have it yet, we tell you exactly what to request from the mall's leasing team.
Usually yes. We build to the most restrictive common dimensions where possible, and modifications for a new mall's spec are quoted as a retrofit, not a rebuild.
After the first approved unit, repeat carts run on a locked specification, typically 8 to 10 working days per batch from our Mumbai facility.
Case studies from our execution portfolio relevant to this kiosk format.
Every kiosk is fabricated end-to-end at our Mumbai facility — MS, SS 304 and aluminium fabrication, laser cutting, powder coating, large-scale carpentry, and signage under one roof. Prefabricated off-site, quality-checked, and installed overnight.
Multi-location rollouts, flat-pack engineering, container-fit design, and export documentation support. One approved design, manufactured repeatedly to a locked specification.
